From the Devon countryside to London, we’re looking forward to welcoming Salcombe Brewery to the Great British Beer Festival for the first time. Find out what exciting things they have coming up below:

Can you describe Salcombe Brewery in three words?
Energetic, motivated & authentic.

What are your personal favourite styles of beer?
A good Porter is definitely up there as one of the best beer styles. The rich chocolate flavours and full mouthfeel are always a winner.

Which of your beers is the biggest fan favourite/most popular?
‘Seahorse’ is our most popular on draft. Throughout May, we donate 5p a pint towards the Seahorse Trust, and we permanently donate 5p a bottle of ‘Seahorse’ to the Trust to help support them in their fantastic work to protect British seahorses.

Which of your beers would you recommend to a first-timer at your bar?
‘Shingle Bay’ – our easy drinking golden ale has a pleasant fruity aroma and a subtle crisp bite. It was the original beer out of the brewery when it first kicked off.

Best beer snack?
Pies. Especially Passion for Pies and their award-winning Dartmoor Beef slow cooked in our very own ‘Shingle Bay Ale’, and their signature beef gravy along with caramelised red onions and carrots and then encased in our luxurious all butter pastry.

If you could get one music artist/celebrity to represent your brewery, who would best fit your business and ethos?
We would say Ed Sheeran. Ed’s undoubtable creativity and authenticity echoes our business and how we plan to grow. He is innovative and down to earth which reflects our ethos.

If you could make a beer using any flavours, and guarantee that it be delicious, which flavours would you love to use?
There are some many weird and wonderful beers out there at the moment – I’m not sure there are many beer flavours that we haven’t tried. I love the flavour of sloe gin, so maybe a sloe pale ale could be fun.

What are you looking forward to at the Great British Beer Festival this summer?
As our first time on the bar at GBBF, we’re excited to meet with customers and serve Salcombe pints to a potentially new audience.

What makes the Great British Beer Festival special, and what has motivated you to come this year?
It’s a fantastic showcase of the best of British beer. With so many unique and interesting new beers to try, where better to do this than under one roof? It’s a great buzz and we can’t wait to be part of it.

What exciting things does your brewery have coming up?
We are working on a gluten-free and vegan ale. As a team, we want everyone to be able to enjoy a Salcombe pint. We’re very excited about this new addition to the Salcombe family and are certainly enjoying testing the brews!
